for funds from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) for Community Projects and Programs. Proposals are due by September 30, 2022.

About Worcester's federal funding to support
public health and economic recovery

Opportunity

The City of Worcester is distributing funds from the federal government to community-based organizations in 2022, and has pledged to make access as open as possible.

Equity Imperative

These funds come from the American Rescue Plan Act, or ARPA, which requires that funding:

  • Address the impacts of COVID-19 among the communities most harmed

  • Address inequities identified by those communities most harmed

Investment

Worcester is receiving $146.6 million dollars, $10 million of which is dedicated to community-based programs and projects.

How can I get involved?

The City of Worcester recently released a request for proposals (RFP) in order to give local organizations the opportunity to apply to receive these ARPA funds.

 

The Coalition for a Healthy Greater Worcester is providing hands-on support for Worcester-based organizations to help them draft and submit proposals and secure funding.

 

The Coalition is hosting a series of training sessions to help any organization that wants to apply.

Applicant organization must be legal entity and registered at SAM.gov at time of submission.

Where can I learn more?

The Worcester Together Logistics Committee has worked with the City of Worcester and advocated for community input and funding decisions to be as equitable as possible, so that people most impacted have a chance to participate and any organization can apply – big or small.

 

The City of Worcester held community needs input sessions in 2021 and also conducted a survey to inform how ARPA funding should be used. You can read the report here.
